FCC Home

US Army Garrison Michigan offers an excellent Family Child Care (FCC) program which includes homes on and off post.  We provide care for children from 6 weeks to 12 years of age in a caring home environment with a small group size.  Providers offer multiple types of care to include full day, part day, hourly, extended hours, infant/toddler, and special needs care.

Each provider goes through extensive training and background checks to meet high program standards.  The training includes education in child growth and development, first aid, CPR, health, sanitation, fire, safety, and emergency procedures.  Trainings are held in both group settings and one on one.  Background checks are done on all people over the age of 12 who are living in the home.  Not all people who apply to become FCC providers qualify; only the highest quality applicants are selected.  15 and browse through our database of providers.

First Aid and CPR TrainingHomes on post are monitored by multiple army components including fire, health, and safety.  In addition to these components, a well educated support team including the FCC Director and Training and Curriculum Specialist conduct observations to ensure that standards for developmental programming and adult/child ratios are met.  Parents are also encouraged to observe the program and provide feedback.

Homes off post are located in the surrounding area of both the Garrison and Detroit Arsenal.  These homes are state licensed and meet high Army standards for developmental programming.   Regular observations of these homes are done by both our FCC Director and Training and Curriculum Specialist to ensure standards are maintained.

Both types of homes offer wonderful programs that help children develop cognitive, social, physical, creative, and self-help skills.  Providers have access to a lending library which is stocked with diverse equipment and materials to support the growth and development of the children in their care.  Through activities like sorting, counting, measuring, story time, music and movement, and art, your child is sure to have a fun filled day with friends.

All providers participate in a subsidy program.  The subsidy allows providers to follow the same fee scale used in other Child and Youth Service programs.  Patron fees are assigned using a sliding scale based on total family income.

We have a parent advisory counsel to promote a network between Child and Youth Services and parents.  It meets on the 3rd Tuesday of each month from September to May.  Anyone in the community is welcome to join.

We invite you to come into our Central Enrollment Registration office located in Building 780, room
