THE HERO WE ARE LOOKING FOR IS…YOU
The Selfridge Volunteer
Corps represents a tradition of service for the
Selfridge joint military community. All members of the
U.S. Armed Forces, retirees, spouses, youth, and
civilians are invited to participate in the volunteer
program. A variety of volunteer opportunities are
available, and the volunteer is encouraged to assist in
the creation of meaningful and productive roles.
Volunteers are just
typical everyday heroes making a world of difference.
Volunteering helps organizations by expanding program
capabilities to better service the community. The
dedicated efforts and giving spirit of our volunteers
has been the key to many successful events, great
programs, and superior services throughout the history
of Selfridge.
Personal benefits
obtained from volunteering are numerous. Prospective
applicants are afforded the opportunity to identify and
develop personal and professional skills and gain
marketable work experience. College applications can be
significantly enhanced by listing community service
involvement and volunteers can be eligible for various
scholarships and awards. Volunteering is also a great
way to help others, meet new friends, and become a
cohesive part of the community.
The Selfridge Volunteer
Corps Coordinator serves as the central point of contact
to assist with opportunities and issues for volunteers
and volunteer managers of the Selfridge Air National
Guard Base community. The goal of the Installation
Volunteer Coordinator is to meet the needs of the
community by matching the volunteer’s skills and
interests with available opportunities in and around the
base.
