The Mobilization and Deployment Readiness Program
provides active, Guard, and Reserve unit pre and post
deployment/mobilization briefings, Family Readiness
Group assistance, information and referral services,
resource materials, homecoming or reunion assistance,
and specialized support service to families of deployed
service members.

Pre-deployment/Mobilization
& Stability & Support Operations (SSO’s)
Provides support and assistance to unit
commanders in establishing Family Readiness Groups and
orientation for reserve component units and their families about
available assistance upon unit activation and individual
mobilization. Staff is available to assist single parents, dual
military couple, and dual emergency–essential civilian couples
in developing family care plans for deployment. .
- Family Assistance Plan
Addresses all levels and phases of
deployment or mobilization and SSO’s for the installation.
The Family Assistance Plan includes the services offered to
families, Selfridge Community Service (SCS) and other
agency’s roles and responsibilities, resources (manpower and
dollars), and projected needs during deployment. The plan
also establishes a 24 hour family assistance center with an
800 phone number, provides support to survivors and waiting
families, and assists relocating family members.
- Installation Contingency Plan -
Provides plans for the installation. Includes the Family
Assistance Plan and branch specific requirements during
mobilization or deployment.
- Support Group/Orientation -
Assists Family Readiness (aka Support) Groups (FRGs/ FSGs)
with training, resource materials, homecoming and reunion
activities, information and referral. Provides published FRG
literature. Units may request assistance as needed.
- Deployment/Mobilization & Stability &
Support Operations (SSO’s) - Provides support to
families during deployment and mobilization.
- Waiting Family Program - Assists
registered families of deployed service members or those who
are geographically separated due to an unaccompanied tour of
duty, extended TDY, deployment, mobilization, or
repatriation. Registration/notification is required.
Provides personalized assistance and close monitoring of
family members to ensure resolution of problems, provides
necessary information, and makes referrals to appropriate
agencies or other resources. See also Army One Source below

service member or family members deal with life's issues.

Army One Source (AOS) AOS is a
24-hour, seven-day-a-week toll-free information and referral
telephone service available to active duty and demobilized
National Guard and Reserve soldiers, deployed civilians and
their families worldwide. AOS provides information ranging
from every day concerns to deployment/reintegration issues.
Additionally, if there is a need for face-to-face
counseling, AOS will provide referrals to professional
civilian counselors for assistance. OCONUS face-to-face
counseling is provided via existing Medical Treatment
Facility-contracted marriage and family counselors. To reach

Post Deployment Briefings - Provides information to assist
families with reunion. Includes support groups or workgroups
that help with family unification problems or successes.

Unit Rear Detachments - Provides training to unit rear
detachments on family assistance and community resources
during deployment or mobilization. Assistance is also
provided for families in their units.

Family Readiness Group - Assists Family Readiness/Support
Groups (FRGs/FSGs) with training, resource materials,
homecoming and reunion activities, information and referral.
Provides published FRG literature. Units may request
assistance as needed.

Operation R.E.A.D.Y. - (Resources for Educating About
Deployment and You) – Provides training module with
practical instructions pertaining to ongoing readiness.
Includes topics such as “Understanding and Planning for
Military Separation and Pre-deployment Ongoing Readiness,”
“Coping with Separation,” and “Financial Planning.” The
materials are designed to support unit commanders in
preparing service members, civilian employees, and their
families for military operations.
